The Ticker Tales take
Rentomojo rents out furniture and appliances to urban households on a monthly subscription, so people can furnish a flat without buying anything. The ₹1,256 crore issue was overwhelmingly an offer for sale (₹1,106 crore) — existing investors cashing out, with only ₹150 crore of fresh money for the business. Demand was the strongest of this week's batch at 72.89 times covered, with institutions at 177.29 times. We expected a strong listing — a pop of around 40%. It listed on 17 September at ₹482.45 on NSE, up 19.4%, and ₹480 on BSE, up 18.8%. We were right on direction but well over on size: a grey market premium of about 40% delivered roughly half that at the open. Buyers kept coming, though, and it closed the first day at ₹534.25, up 32.2% — much closer to our estimate than the opening print suggested.
